Tree Planting

22nd Apr 2021

We are delighted to have recently received 105 tree saplings as part of TADA Rural Support Network’s Warm, Well & Connected Communities Initiative. The children have had great fun planting them this week. Every pupil was given one to plant at home and the rest were planted in school. Our thanks to our caretaker and keen gardener Mrs Keys for offering her help and expertise this week!

Saplings this size also establish very quickly and can reach an adult’s head height in around eight years. They are self-supporting and don’t need increasingly large stakes to keep them secure. We have a mixture of Ash, Hazel, Alder and Silver Birch.

The emphasis in schools is more than ever on Outdoor Education now and this is a great way to promote children’s interest in gardening and the natural environment.
