P7 VictorianTrip to Palace Stables

12th Apr 2022

On Tuesday, P7 pupils enjoyed a Victorian themed workshop at The Palace Stables. They participated in a range of activities, beginning with a history trail around the grounds. This included a visit to the Archbishop’s Chapel, a walk through the underground tunnel and a look at the ice house.

Next up, they enjoyed dramatising a story, with some pupils taking on the roles of a Victorian Lady, butler, cook, stable boy and child. Well done to our budding actors and actresses!

A highlight for all was definitely getting to experience all aspects of a Victorian schoolroom; inspection of hands and shoes, writing on slate, counting on the abacus and games. This was completely different to school today!

Finally, the children were introduced to a range of Victorian items and had to guess what they were used for in the 1800s.

A very enjoyable trip was had by all! Well done to the boys and girls for great participation, and to the staff at the Palace Stables for a fantastic workshop.
